Hearings on Hepatitis

Description:

Body:
WASHINGTON — A Washington news outlet reports that lawmakers on the House Oversight Panel are urging Congress to pass legislation to boost the detection and treatment of viral hepatitis.

TheHill.com reported that the Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a recent hearing on the disease and asked for passage of a bipartisan bill that would boost funding by $600 million over the next five years. The hearing comes after an Institute of Medicine (IOM) report that highlighted problems with the federal government's response to the epidemic.
