GUIZHOU PROVINCE, China — A research article published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology addressed the effectiveness of blueberries on liver fibrosis that was induced in laboratory animals.

A research team in China released study results showing blueberry consumption is beneficial for hepatic diseases, including fibrosis. The research demonstrated the fruit could offer benefits, such as reducing liver indices, serum levels of hyaluronic acid and alanine aminotransferase. Also, the stage of hepatic fibrosis was significantly weakened.
